Student Internship at Delhi University Research Lab

Two students of Class XI B, Ahana Salwan and Arnav Singh, are currently undertaking an enriching internship under the Student Internship Programme at the research laboratory of Delhi University. They are working under the guidance of Dr Firasat Hussain, Professor, Department of Chemistry. During the internship, the students are gaining valuable hands-on experience with advanced characterisation techniques such as single crystal diffraction and spectroscopy. Their research focuses on d and f block elements, directly aligning with their Class XI and XII curriculum. This opportunity is not only enhancing their scientific understanding but also nurturing their curiosity and analytical skills. The students are thoroughly enjoying the experience and are expected to continue the internship until Monday, 2 June 2025.
Summer Camp – Learning Beyond the Classroom

The Summer Camp – Learning Beyond the Classroom was successfully organised on the school campus across various dates for students from Nursery to Class XI. The camp provided a joyful, enriching, and well-rounded experience that brought learning to life through a harmonious blend of physical activity, creativity, and exploration. For students of Classes Nursery to II, the camp ran from 22 May 2025 to 29 May 2025. It was a delightful experience filled with engaging activities such as hand printing, Zumba, clay modelling, yoga, storytelling, and cooking without fire. These sessions encouraged creativity, fine motor skills, language development, and healthy habits in a fun and interactive setting. The week concluded with a cheerful movie show, offering a moment of relaxation and shared enjoyment. The young learners’ enthusiastic participation created a warm and stimulating environment for bonding, discovery, and growth. Students of Classes III to V participated in the camp from 19 May 2025 to 24 May 2025. Their schedule included a balanced mix of physical and creative activities. Daily sports sessions—featuring volleyball, yoga, cricket, and football—promoted physical fitness and teamwork, while art, craft, dance, and music sessions encouraged self-expression and imaginative thinking. The camp served as a valuable platform for students to extend their learning beyond the classroom and enhance their physical, creative, and social skills. For students of Classes VI to IX and XI, the camp took place from 19 May 2025 to 23 May 2025. Each day was thoughtfully structured to include a range of physical activities, including volleyball, yoga, cricket, and football, as well as creative sessions in painting, sculpture, gardening, music composition, and digital exploration using Adobe Express. Performing arts added further vibrancy to the programme. These activities fostered collaboration, self-expression, and well-being. The highlight of the week was the final day, where students shared food with one another, celebrating the values of care and community. Across all levels, the summer camp was met with enthusiastic involvement from the students, making it a resounding success. It was a memorable journey of learning, laughter, and lasting connections—truly a celebration of learning beyond the classroom.
Orientation Programme (EWS category)

Salwan Public School Mayur Vihar, organised an Orientation Programme for Nursery class parents under the EWS category on Tuesday, 27 May 2025, to warmly welcome them to the upcoming academic session. Headmistress, Smt. Sheetal Kapoor, addressed the gathering and provided a comprehensive overview of the school. She elaborated on the teaching methodologies, daily schedule, available facilities, and essential guidelines to be followed by both parents and students. The session also included an interactive query segment, wherein which parents’ questions were addressed to help them better understand their role in supporting their child’s educational journey. Towards the end of the programme, parents were issued with temporary ID cards, along with school uniforms and book sets free of cost. They also had the opportunity to meet the class teacher fostering a sense of connection and understanding for the academic year ahead.
Sunny Smiles & Creative Miles

The students of Classes I and II at Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar enthusiastically took part in a delightful summer celebration titled “Sunny Smiles & Creative Miles!”. The event was a wonderful blend of creativity, joy, and the carefree spirit of summer. The children came dressed in a variety of imaginative summer-themed costumes, ranging from sunbeams and beach-goers to ice cream cones, fruits, and vibrant flowers. Their outfits brightened up the entire school, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere. Each student then took to the stage, confidently reciting a short, joyful poem about summer, impressing both their peers and teachers with their expressive delivery. To add an extra layer of excitement, the most creatively dressed boy and girl were crowned as the Summer King and Summer Queen, bringing an added sense of fun and celebration to the day. The event was a resounding success, filled with laughter, creativity, and a true celebration of the joys of summer, leaving everyone with big smiles and lasting memories.
Women Empowerment in the Energy Sector

A session on Women’s Empowerment in the Energy Sector was conducted for Year XII Science students on Tuesday, 13 May 2025, at Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar. The session was led by two distinguished speakers: Mr Ramakrishnan Atreya, Research Associate, and Ms Leena Begam M A, Project Associate at FSR Global. Key discussions included an overview of the energy sector, encompassing topics such as energy supply, production, and climate-related challenges. The session also highlighted the increasing representation of women in the energy sector, which has risen from 22% to 35.9%. Strategies to further enhance female participation were explored, including flexible working hours, reservations, skill development, and greater awareness of labour market opportunities. The speakers provided insights into skill mapping and employment prospects in areas such as grid infrastructure, machine learning, data analysis, electricity markets, and database management. The session was interactive and engaging, offering valuable takeaways for both students and educators. The session was efficiently coordinated by Dr Preeti Jain, School Counsellor and Ms Seema Nagpal (PGT Physics), who served as the teacher in-charges. Their meticulous planning and facilitation ensured a smooth and enriching learning experience for all participants. Ms Leena encouraged students to explore a wide range of seminars and career opportunities in the energy sector to enable informed and purposeful decision-making.
Brighter Minds programme

The Brighter Minds team comprising Smt. Fouzia Ali Khan, PRT Mathematics, Smt. Neha Kohli, PRT Social Science and Ms. Manvi Shukla, TGT Social Science hosted an orientation programme from Monday, 28 April 2025 to Wednesday, 30 April 2025, for students in Classes III to VIII at Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar. This engaging series of sessions introduced students to the principles of Heartfulness, a practice designed to enhance academic performance while simultaneously nurturing vital life skills such as emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and resilience. The students were shown original video clips that provided them with a deeper insight into the objectives of the Heartfulness programme, helping them understand its holistic approach to personal development. In addition to the videos, various activities were conducted to foster both mental and physical well-being. These included guided meditation sessions to promote inner peace and focus, as well as expressive dance exercises that encouraged creative expression and emotional release. As part of the programme, students were encouraged to enrol in age-appropriate courses set to take place in May. For Classes III to V, there will be an in-house programme hosted within the school premises, while for students in Classes VI to VIII, a residential course in Shimla will be offered. Both programmes will be led by experienced facilitators from the Heartfulness team, who are committed to guiding students in their personal growth journey. The orientation programme was met with enthusiasm, and students from all participating classes expressed a keen interest in joining the upcoming Heartfulness courses. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many students sharing their excitement about the potential benefits of these practices in their academic and personal lives. The successful orientation reflects the growing interest in holistic approaches to education that not only focus on academic achievements but also on the well-being and emotional development of students.
Celebration of World Autism Awareness Day 2025

As part of the World Autism Awareness Day 2025 celebrations, Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, organised a series of inclusive and engaging activities throughout the month of April 2025. From Wednesday, 02 April 2025 to Tuesday, 08 April 2025, the school held a Blue Day Celebration, with 960 pupils, including children with special needs (CWSN) and their peers, taking part. Staff and students wore blue—the colour that symbolises support for individuals with autism—as a gesture of solidarity and inclusion. The event created an atmosphere of acceptance, unity, and meaningful conversations around autism. Between 15 April 2025 and 22 April 2025, 550 pupils participated in a poster-making activity aimed at raising awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Using bright colours, symbols, and creative artwork, students conveyed strong messages promoting inclusivity, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the autism community. To continue the month-long observance, a series of informative talks were delivered by the school counsellor from 24 April 2025 to 30 April 2025, reaching 870 pupils. These sessions aimed to educate students about autism, address common misconceptions, and highlight the unique strengths and challenges faced by individuals on the spectrum. The discussions encouraged open dialogue, questions, and thoughtful reflections, nurturing a more aware and supportive school environment.
VORACIOUS READERS

To cultivate a strong reading culture and recognise young readers, the school launched the Voracious Reader initiative for students in Grades I to V. As part of this programme, students were encouraged to read books during their designated language development periods. They had the option to select books from the school library or bring their own from home, allowing for greater choice and engagement. Throughout the months of April and May, teachers closely monitored students’ reading behaviours, identifying those who consistently demonstrated curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for books. These dedicated readers were celebrated during the class assembly and honoured with the prestigious Voracious Badge for their sustained reading efforts. This initiative significantly enhanced students’ reading fluency and comprehension, while nurturing a lifelong passion for books and independent learning among our young learners.
ATL COMMUNITY DAY WORKSHOP

On Thursday, 15th May 2025, six students from Class X participated in the ATL Community Day workshop titled “Mini Cosmetic Start-up – From Lab to Launch” at Ahlcon Public School, Delhi. The workshop aimed to encourage innovation, scientific thinking, and entrepreneurial skills among students. Smt. Monia Saini, TGT Science, SPSMV accompanied the students to the event and provided guidance throughout the workshop. The event was divided into two informative sessions: Session 1: Create and ConquerConducted by Ms. Jyotsana Tyagi, this session focused on entrepreneurship and equipped students with the key skills needed to transform innovative ideas into successful ventures. Students learned about business planning, identifying target audiences, and effective branding strategies. Session 2: Cosmetic ChemistryLed by Ms. Priyanka Srivastava and Ms. Isha Rustogi, this hands-on session introduced students to the science behind cosmetics. The students learned how to formulate cold cream and shampoo, gaining practical knowledge about ingredient functions and product safety. The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of product development, branding, and marketing within the cosmetic industry. It offered a platform for students to explore their creativity and entrepreneurial potential, inspiring them to think beyond the classroom and consider future possibilities in science-driven businesses. Smt. Monia Saini ensured that the students had a valuable and enriching experience throughout the day.
STAY HEALTHY – INSIDE AND OUTSIDE

The Class 4C assembly, held on 13 May 2025, on the theme “Stay Healthy – Inside and Outside”, began with the soulful chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, followed by its meaning. A thought-provoking skit titled “Swasth Shareer, Swasth Man” was presented, emphasizing the importance of physical and mental well-being. Students also shared positive affirmations, expressing that they eat healthy food, and their bodies are perfect and disease-free. Following this, Readers and Meal Marvels of Classes 3 to 5 for the months of April and May were honoured. The Headmistress presented them with badges in recognition of their achievements. She also addressed the gathering with encouraging words. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem, evoking a sense of pride and unity.
