Samudra Kavach: A STEM Solution to Oil Spills

Human activities have significantly contributed to environmental contamination, and oil spills are a critical issue that often goes unnoticed. Every year, hundreds of metric tons of oil leak into our oceans, poisoning marine ecosystems and causing the death of millions, if not billions, of marine organisms.
In response to this pressing problem, Samudra Kavach was developed by the students of Salwan Mayur Vihar as an innovative solution. This device leverages photosensitive sensors to detect oil spills and employs a water pump to deploy MSL-1, an eco-friendly oil dispersant. MSL-1 effectively minimizes the impact of oil on marine ecosystems, exponentially reducing its harmful effects.
This ingenious project secured the 2nd position in North India in the CBSE National Coding Challenge and was highly praised at the STEM Exhibition and Awards during the AICRA Awards, where it was also prominently displayed.
