Hygiene Day Celebrations

Hygiene Day was observed in school to promote healthy habits among young learners. The students of Class KG C presented a class assembly on Personal Hygiene, confidently sharing useful tips such as washing hands regularly, brushing teeth twice a day, bathing daily, combing hair neatly, wearing clean and ironed clothes, and keeping nails trimmed. Following the assembly, an interactive session on Hand Hygiene was conducted by Dr. Rajeev Vashistha, a school parent and the Medical Director at Elysian Healthcare under the School Parent Partnership Programme. Through simple demonstrations and interesting facts, he sensitised the children to the importance of proper hand-washing techniques for staying healthy. The day was both informative and engaging, inspiring the children to adopt good hygiene practices in their daily lives.

Mango Mania

Students of Nursery and KG joyfully celebrated Mango Mania as part of the Yellow Day festivities. Dressed in bright yellow outfits, they brought a delightful variety of mango treats—juices, sweets, candies, aam panna, pickles, and more. Classrooms transformed into cheerful mango corners where children proudly displayed their items and spoke a few lines about them. The celebration was a perfect blend of colour, flavour, and fun—making it a memorable day dedicated to the King of Fruits, the beloved mango!

Achievers’ Day 2024–25: Applauding Excellence, Igniting Aspirations

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, celebrated Achievers’ Day 2024–2025 on Saturday, 19 July 2025, with great pride to honour the academic and co-scholastic excellence of its students. The occasion was graced by Shri Bharat Salhotra, the Chairman of the school, as the Chief Guest. The event began with ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolising knowledge and enlightenment. Capt Richa Sharma Katyal, Principal SPSMV in her address applauded the collaborative efforts of students, teachers, and parents in building a culture of excellence. A stirring musical performance by the school choir left a lasting impression, with their rendition of ‘Hall of Fame’ capturing the spirit of ambition and perseverance. This was followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion by students on ‘Born Leaders vs. Made Leaders’, which showcased their critical thinking, confidence, and eloquence. In continuation, Shri Bharat Salhotra, the chairperson in his address underscored the power of the three Cs—Communication, Collaboration, and the Cultivation of life skills—as the cornerstones of personal growth and effective leadership in the modern world. The core highlight of the event was the felicitation of meritorious achievers from Classes VI to XII, of the session 2024-2025. Students who achieved national recognition in co-scholastic domains were also applauded. The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks and words of encouragement. Achievers’ Day stood as a testament to the school’s commitment to holistic education and the belief that every child has the potential to achieve greatness. .

Toony Tales Time

An engaging activity titled ‘Toony Tales Time’ was conducted for Classes I and II on Friday, 4th July 2025l. Held in their respective classrooms, the activity offered a delightful platform for young learners to revisit and share their favourite summer break memories. What made the experience even more enjoyable was the unique twist—students narrated their holiday stories in the voice and style of their beloved cartoon characters such as Chhota Bheem, Doraemon, and Peppa Pig. The classrooms came alive with animated voices, laughter, and cheerful storytelling as children confidently stepped into the shoes of their favourite toons. This fun-filled activity was designed to enhance speaking and presentation skills, build confidence, and encourage creative expression in a joyful and supportive setting. With over 200 students participating under the guidance of their teachers, the event proved to be a memorable learning experience. It beautifully demonstrated how imaginative activities can foster essential communication skills while making learning truly enjoyable for young minds.

Primary Achievers’ Day and Investiture Ceremony

‘In every achiever lies a dream fulfilled; in every leader, a dream taking flight’. Primary Wing of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, witnessed a momentous dual occasion on Friday, 11 July 2025 — the ‘Achievers’ Day and ‘Investiture Ceremony’. The event was a celebration of excellence and responsibility, honouring not only the commendable academic efforts of the students but also the new Student Council of the Primary Wing. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of diyas by Capt Richa Sharma Katyal, Principal SPS MV and Maj Gen Ajay Khandpur, Director SPS MV accompanied by Smt. Bhawna Puri, Vice Principal, Smt. Sheetal Kapoor, Headmistress and parents, symbolising knowledge and enlightenment. In her welcome address,  the Principal, SPS MV,  emphasised perseverance as pillars of lasting success. She congratulated the young council members and urged them to take on their responsibilities with commitment and integrity. She highlighted the need for parents to guide their children towards positive empowerment, grounded in civic responsibility. A soulful musical rendition, ‘Dream it Possible’ by the school choir and a spirited dance performance on Rabindranath Tagore’s composition, “Amra Notun Jouboneri Doot,” added cultural vibrance to the occasion. The Achievers’ Day ceremony honoured students of Classes III to V for their consistent academic performance in 2024–25. The top achievers of each class were felicitated for their dedication and discipline. A special mention was awarded to Yuven Garg of Class IV for his exceptional academic performance, recognising his resilience and commitment to learning. The ceremony then transitioned into the formal induction of the newly elected Student Council. Council members, including the Head Boy, Head Girl, Sports Captain, House Captains, and Class Representatives, were conferred with badges and certificates by the school leadership. The Oath was conducted by the Principal, SPS MV as the council pledged to uphold the school’s motto “Service Before Self” and serve with integrity and dedication. This was followed by a group photograph capturing the spirit of pride, promise, and leadership. The Head Boy and Head Girl addressed the gathering with gratitude, promising to lead by example and uphold the trust placed in them. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Smt. Sheetal Kapoor, Headmistress.

Internship at CSIR-National Physical Laboratory

Five students of Class XI from Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar successfully completed a two-day internship at the Chemistry Department of CSIR–NPL on Tuesday, 03 June – Wednesday, 04 June 2025, under the mentorship of Dr. Asit Patra. The programme offered hands-on training in key laboratory techniques, including recrystallisation, rotary evaporation, distillation, thin layer chromatography, centrifugation, pelletizer usage, spin coating, and digital melting point analysis. Students also performed a fun science activity by preparing invisible ink using lemon juice. The internship enhanced students’ practical skills, scientific thinking, and understanding of real-world applications of chemistry. It served as a valuable bridge between classroom theory and laboratory practice. At the end of the programme, all participants received Letters of Recommendation in recognition of their active engagement and curiosity. The experience proved to be a significant step in developing experimental competence and a deeper interest in science.

Three-Day Summer Training at CSIR-IGIB

Ten students of Class XI from Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar participated in a three-day summer training programme at CSIR-IGIB from Wednesday, 18 June – Friday, 20 June 2025, focusing on the real-world applications of genomics and molecular biology. The hands-on training covered key lab techniques such as DNA isolation, microbial culture observation, PCR, third-generation DNA sequencing, gel electrophoresis, and mutation analysis. Students also explored microbial diversity and were introduced to bioinformatics tools, including the NCBI browser, to analyze genetic data. The programme enhanced students’ understanding of DNA, genetic mutations, and the vital role of microbes, while fostering scientific curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking. It concluded with a session on data interpretation, linking genomics to modern diagnostics and personalized medicine. This enriching experience helped bridge academic knowledge with practical scientific application, inspiring students to explore careers in the life sciences.

Psychology Internship at Fortis Hospital

Eight students from Class XI of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar successfully completed a six-day internship in Psychology at Fortis Hospital, conducted between Monday, 03 June 2025 and Saturday, 28 June 2025. Organized in batches across various Fortis branches, the internship offered a unique and enriching opportunity for students to explore the field of mental health through hands-on learning and professional exposure. The internship provided a comprehensive overview of psychological principles and practices, covering a wide range of topics including psychological interviewing techniques, mental disorders, branches of psychology, identity development, therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy, and the importance of community mental health initiatives. Through interactive sessions, expert guidance, and real-world discussions, students gained practical insights into the world of psychology, deepening their understanding of human behaviour and mental wellness. The experience helped sharpen their empathy, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence, while offering clarity about potential career paths in mental health and allied professions. The internship proved to be a highly rewarding experience, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-life application. It not only enriched the students’ academic journey but also fostered a deeper awareness of mental health and the need for compassion and support in today’s world. The school extends its congratulations to all participating students for their active involvement and commitment to learning beyond the classroom.

STEM Internship at STEMROBO Technologies

Five students of Class XI from Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar participated in a three-day STEM internship at STEMROBO Technologies, Noida, from 24th to 26th June 2025. The programme offered hands-on exposure to AI, 3D modelling, AR/VR, and robotics. Students began by building AI models using AIConnect and Google’s Teachable Machine, followed by designing 3D objects in Tinkercad and learning about filament types and 3D printing techniques. On the final day, they explored AR/VR using Meta headsets, understood bionic and robotic arm mechanisms, and experimented with Arduino programming. The internship concluded with a visit to the R&D department, offering insight into real-time STEM innovations. This immersive experience enhanced students’ technological skills, fostered creativity, and deepened their interest in emerging scientific fields.

International Yoga Day 2025 with Enthusiasm and Unity

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar celebrated International Yoga Day 2025 on Saturday, 21 June 2025, with immense zeal and a deep sense of togetherness. The event was a harmonious blend of physical, mental, and spiritual wellness, aligning with this year’s global theme—‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’. This theme beautifully emphasized the profound connection between individual well-being and the health of our planet, underlining yoga’s power to foster holistic living and environmental mindfulness. The celebration commenced with a warm welcome address by Capt Richa Sharma Katyal, Principal, Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, who spoke about the significance of yoga as a timeless practice rooted in India’s ancient tradition and its relevance in the modern world. She highlighted how yoga nurtures not just the body and mind, but also cultivates a deeper sense of harmony with nature. A mass yoga session followed, led by trained yoga disciples under the able guidance of the school’s Yoga Instructor. The school ground echoed with calm and focus as students, teachers, and parents came together to perform a series of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and guided meditation techniques. Each posture was demonstrated with clarity and performed with great discipline and enthusiasm, reflecting the spirit of collective wellness and inner peace. The session culminated with the chanting of the ‘Shanti Path’, invoking peace and serenity in every heart. A collective pledge was also taken by all participants to integrate yoga into their daily lives, embracing it as a way of living rather than just a physical exercise. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Head of the Sports Department, expressing gratitude to all participants, volunteers, instructors, and school leadership for making the event a resounding success. The celebration left everyone rejuvenated, inspired, and more connected—with themselves, each other, and the world around them.
