Hindustani Bhasha Academy

A group of 29 students were felicitated by the ‘ Hindustani Bhasha Academy’ at Talkatora Stadium on 06 December 2023.The event took place for distributing prizes to students for scoring 90% and above marks in the Hindi language in class X CBSE examination for the session 2022-2023. Two of the teachers, Ms. Meenakshi Arora and Ms. Shashi Kharbanda of Hindi department were also felicitated for their excellent efforts to bring out such results . Honourable former president Shri Ramnath Kovind ji graced the occasion with his presence and addressed the gathering with his valuable words and briefed students about the importance of Indian languages such as Hindi, Sanskrit, and many more.This mega event included the celebration of ‘Bhartiya Bhasha Diwas’. It was a motivating and enriching experience for students and teachers.

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, celebrated its 82nd Founder’s Day on 05 December 2023, honouring the 122nd birth anniversary of Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan Ji, the founder of Salwan Education Trust. The event harmoniously blended reverence, reflection, and celebration, as the school united to honour the founder’s enduring legacy and reaffirm its commitment to education and service principles instilled by Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan Ji over eight decades ago. The event was graced by Shri Bharat Salhotra, Chairperson SPSMV, Shri Siddharth Sathenapally, Managing Committee Member, Shri Rajeev Maikhuri and Shri Shashi Bhushan, PTA Members, Maj Gen Ajay Khandpur (Retd.), Director SPSMV, Capt Richa Sharma Katyal (Retd.), Principal, teachers, and staff. The day commenced with a spiritually charged havan ceremony, followed by a special assembly featuring heartfelt prayers, the soul-stirring Salwan Song, reflecting shared values. Students paid homage to Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan Ji’s visionary spirit, through poetry, led to an engaging talk on his life and contributions. The talk reiterated the Salwan Education Trust’s dedication to nation-building through education over the past 82 years. The enlightening address of the Principal, drew parallels between the founder’s vision and present institutional values, emphasising the school’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development. The event showcased a spectacular dance performance, blending Kathak and Bharatnatyam, symbolising the school’s devotion to preserving traditional dances and celebrating cultural heritage. The assembly concluded with a powerful National Anthem rendition followed by dignitaries planting saplings, highlighting the school’s commitment to sustainability. In a heartwarming gesture, a Langar was organised for the MTS staff, fostering a sense of inclusivity and community spirit.The event ended on a note of hope, growth, and a renewed dedication to the legacy of Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan Ji.
School’s Alumni Partnership Program

As part of the school’s Alumni Partnership Program, Mr. Kushagra (alumnus of batch 2020-2021) and his colleague Mr. Harshit conducted an enlightening session on ADR, emphasizing its efficiency in resolving cases swiftly. The speakers specifically highlighted mediation and negotiation as key components of ADR and explored ways for students to integrate these principles into their classrooms for proactive conflict resolution. The speakers drew inspiration from the Mahabharata, showcasing Lord Krishna’s mediation to prevent war. This historical example underscored the roots of peaceful conflict resolution, demonstrating the timelessness of ADR principles. The session delved into religious perspectives on dispute resolution, illustrating how diverse faiths advocate for harmony. Mr. Kushagra and his colleague encouraged students to view ADR not only as a practical tool but also as a value embedded in cultural and religious teachings. Ms. Bhawna Puri, Vice Principal, expressed her gratitude to the speakers for their insightful session on ADR. Recognizing the significant contribution to students’ understanding of mediation and negotiation, she presented them with certificates as a token of appreciation. The certificates symbolized the school’s commitment to recognizing and encouraging informative sessions that enhance students’ knowledge and life skills. Children’s Day Celebration

Children’s Day is a special occasion dedicated to celebrating the joy and innocence of childhood. In light of poor air quality leading to the classes shifting to the online mode, the school, under the initiative of Gandhi House, organized a virtual celebration to ensure the well-being of the children. An interactive session was held wherein the class teachers wished the students and encouraged them to share how they planned to celebrate the day to make it a memorable one. An educational aspect was also incorporated with videos on the biography of Jawaharlal Nehru being played. This not only served as a tribute to the first Prime Minister of India, whose birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day, but also provided students with valuable insights into the history and significance of the day. The quiz based on Jawaharlal Nehru’s life, created on the Kahoot platform by the teachers, added an interactive and competitive element to the celebration. The virtual celebration of Children’s Day was a great success, with enthusiastic participation from students, and teachers. Despite the challenges posed by the virtual format, the event successfully captured the spirit of joy and camaraderie that Children’s Day is known for.
Guru Purab Celebrations

Guru Nanak Jayanti, widely known as Gurpurab, holds immense significance as a religious festival observed the Sikh community globally to honour the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the revered founder of Sikhism. Organized by Gandhi House, the school celebrated this auspicious occasion with profound enthusiasm and jubilance. To mark the beginning of the celebrations, a ‘Guru Pheri’, immersed in devotion and spiritual fervour, was organised. Students and staff came together to embark on a symbolic procession, accompanied by the chanting of hymns and prayers. A special assembly took centre-stage, shedding light on the fundamental principles of Sikhism and the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The heart of the program resonated with the soulful ‘Shabad Kirtan’ and ‘Ardaas’, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere that reinforced the profound teachings of the great leader. Shri Ranjeet Singh, a parent, graced the occasion as the guest speaker, who elaborated on the inspirational teachings of Guru Nanak Ji. Concluding the assembly, Capt Richa Sharma Katyal (Retd.), Principal, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the pivotal role of a guru in one’s life. She underscored the importance of walking the path of righteousness with utmost integrity and honesty. Following the assembly, the distribution of ‘Kadha Prasad’ symbolized unity and joy within the school community, fostering a festive spirit. Overall, The celebration beautifully blended spirituality, education, and community engagement. Constitution Defines Democracy

On 02 November, 2023, XI-D held its assembly on the theme “The Constitution Defines Democracy.” The day commenced with the recitation of the Gayatri Mantra and a prayer, setting the tone for a thoughtful session. A thought for the day was shared, encouraging students to reflect on the significance of law and order in ensuring the smooth operation of any system. Following this, students provided a news update on current events, both nationally and internationally. The assembly featured a dynamic talk show that delved into the concept of equal and equitable justice within a democratic state. A special ceremony recognized the ASN G20 Consolation Prize winners through a prize distribution segment. In alignment with the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week 2023, participants took an ‘Integrity Pledge,’ underscoring their commitment to actively combat corruption and uphold the highest living standards. The school Principal then shared her insights on the importance of shunning unjust practices and outlined how individuals can contribute to ensuring the nation follows the path of true integrity.

As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2023, which observes the theme, “Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation”, an ‘Integrity Pledge’ was taken by all staff members of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, on 02 November 2023, acknowledging the importance of taking active steps towards combating corruption in order to achieve the highest standards of living. The pledge encouraged the school community to honour and uphold integrity and transparency in their day to day conduct. Initiatives such as these work as a significant and powerful reminder towards conscious and mindful living. They are also an excellent medium to spread awareness regarding one’s duties towards the nation.
Chandrayan Utsav

A Speech Competition was held for class X students as a part of Chandrayan Utsav. On November 8, 2023.The theme of the competition was ‘Shiv Shakti’. The competition aimed to celebrate and discuss the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 and the significance of naming the lunar landing site as ‘Shiv Shakti.’ The students delivered their thoughtful speeches on the topic “चंद्रयान–3 लैंडिंग स्थल को ‘शिव शक्ति‘ कहा गया, चंद्रमा पर शिव शक्ति बिंदु क्या है?” The students shared their thoughts on the remarkable achievement of Chandrayaan-3 and its importance in India’s space exploration journey. They also discussed the reasons behind naming the lunar landing site ‘Shiv Shakti. ‘The speeches were not only informative, but also inspiring. Students highlighted the scientific achievements of the mission, such as landing on the moon’s south pole and conducting experiments to explore lunar resources and conditions. They also discussed the cultural and symbolic aspects of naming the landing site as ‘Shiv Shakti’ and its connection to the Hindu mythology and heritage.
