Special Assembly on Gurupurab

Date: 07th November’2022 Topic: Special Assembly on Gurupurab   “With your hands carve out your own destiny.” – Guru Nanak Dev Ji Guru Nanak Dev ji was the first of the ten Sikh gurus and the founder of Sikhism. His birth anniversary is observed as ‘Gurpurab’ across the globe. Guru Nanak ji travelled far and wide to spread the message of oneness and compassion. To observe this auspicious occasion, a special assembly on Gurpurab was conducted on 7th November 2022. To begin with, the students of all classes were shown a short clip of 10 minutes on the life of Guru Nanak ji in their class itself. The assembly commenced with Guru Pheri. The joyful procession of about fifty students passed through the school corridors. The other students watched the procession in utmost faith. The hymns sung were divine and fascinating. Ahana Salwan, student of class VIII-C, explained the importance the day. Mool Mantra and Ardas were presented by Jasmeen Kaur and Ashmeet Kaur followed by the ‘Thought for the day.’ A mesmerizing Shabad Kirtan rendered by the school choir of Tagore House left the audience spell bound. Mr. Ranjeet Singh, father of Ratan Singh of class VIII-B, shed light on the significance of Gurupurab and the three teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Our respected officiating Principal Ma’am, Ms. Bhawna Puri, felicitated Mr. Ranjeet Singh Ji and addressed the gathering. She emphasized on the importance of the teachings of the great Sikh guru in the present times. She questioned the same to the students later and they readily answered her queries. To further consolidate the learning, a quiz was shared with the students in the Google classroom which they were asked to do at home. The special assembly highlights were also shared on the YouTube later.   The sacred Kadhaah Prasad, made in the school with all religious passion, was served to the students and the staff after the assembly. It was indeed a moral learning assembly for all.

National Unity Day 2022

The National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) is observed on the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31stOctober, 2022 throughout the country. To honour the Iron man of India and commemorate the day, various activities were organised in the school. The Unity pledge was taken by the school children to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation. Creative activities like essay writing, poster making were conducted for classes-3 to 5. A Fancy dress programme was also organized for classes Nursey-II wherein students were dressed up as  Ramayana characters and spoke a few lines depicting those personas. Unity Run was also flagged off by Director Brig (Dr) AK Tyagi (Retd), Offg. Principal Ms. Bhawna Puri and Senior Coordinator Ms. Pooja Dhingra where in Students and School Staff enthusiastically participated in it.

Creative Writing Session-Parent Partnership Program

On November 3, 2022, a workshop on Creative Writing was held as part of the Parent Partnership Program. Classes III and IV students attended the session. Creative Writing, a form of artistic expression, draws on the imagination to convey meaning through the use of imagery, narrative, and drama.  Ms. Supriti Garg M/o Yuven Garg of II-B was the speaker of the day. Ms. Ritu Bajaj welcomed the resource person and briefly discussed her accomplishments. She began the session by narrating a fun story of two siblings, one of whom often uses a mobile phone while the other enjoys reading.  She stressed on the value of reading. She stated that using a mobile phone excessively impairs thinking.  She added that “Using Mobile phone Endlessly, will make you act Mindlessly!” She emphasised the importance of employing adjectives while writing stories since they make your work more impressive. She further explained the structure of the composition in detail. It builds listening skills, comprehension, creative thinking, and vocabulary enrichment. It was an enriching session which was enjoyed by the students .The students engaged the speaker well and asked insightful questions. We will be delighted to hold more such sessions in future. These programs help in building a strong relationship between parents and teachers which will eventually result in the overall development of the child. Our honourable officiating Principal Ma’am, Ms. Bhawna Puri, felicitated the guest and rendered a vote of thanks. She admired the parents’ and teachers’ efforts and hoped to see more initiatives in near future.

Wildlife Quiz

Krit Kedia of class VIII C secured the 1st position in Wildlife Quiz organised by National Zoological Park, New Delhi. He was honoured to receive the award from Mr. Chandra Prakash Goyal, Director General of Forests and Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India. We congratulate him and his proud parents on this perfect win. There is no substitute for diligence and dedication….and he has truly proved this with his worth.

CBSE Expression series- “TOURISM IN INDIA”

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar III organised an array of activities for classes III -XII under the CBSE Expression series- “TOURISM IN INDIA”. Students participated with full enthusiasm in the essay/painting competitions and it was a great platform for them to express their creativity and learnt about how tourism in India helps in the employment generation and overall economic development.

Athletics Zonal Competition- October 2022

The school took part in Athletics Zonal Competition held at East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex, Delhi, from 11th October to 15th October 2022. The following students won accolades in various categories: Vijul Ahuja of class XI-C secured first position in 100m,second position in 400m and 3rd position in 200m. Farha Zafar of Class X-B secured first position in 3000m, first position in 1500m and 2nd position in 800m. Karthik of XII-A secured first position in 100m and 3rd position in 200m. Vijul Ahuja of XI-C, Jia Kaur Kohli of Xl-D, Hargun Kaur of lX-C and Avni Sharma of VIII-B secured 2nd position in 4X100m relay. A total of 4 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze medals were won by the students. Many congratulations to all the winners and their family members. It is a proud moment for the school indeed!

Wildlife Quiz

A Wildlife Quiz was organised by National Zoological Park, New Delhi on 5th October ’22 at Delhi Zoo. Two of our class 8 students , Aarohan Pani and Krit Kumar Kedia had participated and secured first position in the same. They were awarded certificates by Mr. Chandra Prakash Goyal, Director General of Forests and Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change,Government of India. There is no substitute for diligence and dedication….and they have truly proved their worth.

Workshop on Disaster Management (Fire Safety)

Event: Disaster Management (Fire Safety) Date: 28th September 2022 Resource Person: Mr. Firoz Khan from Fire Department Fire safety is the set of practices intended to reduce the destruction caused by fire. A workshop on ‘ ‘Disaster Management (Fire Safety)’’ was organized by Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar-III, New Delhi, and the “Fire Department” of Delhi on 28th September 2022. The workshop was about the information related to: The materials/Substances that can cause fire Elements involved in fire Key contact information Utility services (Including shut-off valves for water, gas and electric) Access issues Dangerous stored materials Location of people with special needs Categorization of fire as A, B, C, & D class fire Resource person Mr. Firoz sensitized the staff about LPG safety rules and use of fire extinguishers and also introduced the acronym PASS, wherein each letter of PASS stands for: P – Pull the pin. A- Aim the nozzle S- Squeeze the handles S- for Sweep He shared real-life experiences and examples. A demo was given by Mr. Firoz on using a fire extinguisher at the end. It was an informative and enriching experience for all the participants.

Workshop on NCF 2005

A workshop on NCF2005 was organized in the school premises on September 26, 2022, to sensitize all the staff members about NCF 2005. National Curriculum Framework 2005 was published to guide institutions and schools to encourage the overall development of children. It promotes the idea of “Learning without burden” to protect the children from excessive stress and to make the learning process easy and joyful.   The key goals of the National Curriculum Framework, Objectives of National Curriculum Framework – NCF 2005 and Guiding Principles for the development of the curriculum were discussed.
