Workshop on Finacial Literacy and Use of Digital Tools

Financial literacy makes it okay for us to make small or big mistakes. On the other hand, being financial illiterate only makes those mistakes dire and regrettable. CBSE has taken an initiative to sensitize teachers on the basics of Financial Literacy and the use of Digital Tools that are relevant in the current scenario. The session focused to create awareness about basic financial planning, how to avoid falling prey to phishing and cyber frauds, etc. This helped educators stay updated to plan their future in a better way and also disseminate their learning and extracted experience with the students so that they deal with the finances vigilantly. This initiative is part of Activities related to Investor Education and Awareness Initiative in terms of SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations, 1996. The session was conducted in  Salwan  Public School Mayur Vihar III which is the lead collaborator school of Hubs of Learning. Teachers from different member schools of Delhi participated by registering themselves through the link provided by CBSE. A total of 92 teachers had participated. The session was headed by CS. Mr. Gaurav Munjal. The session began by welcoming the guest speaker and the participants. Our Director, Brig. A.K Tyagi felicitated the guest speaker.             The key takeaways for the teachers were: Importance of SIPs/ shares/ mutual funds Investment and importance of life insurance and term plans How to deal with funds and finances Where and where not to invest Cyber Fraud and phishing The real-life experiences and anecdotes made the session interesting. The session was interactive throughout. The teachers actively clarified their doubts and got satisfactory answers

Lohri  Celebrations

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar-III, Delhi Month: January 2022-2023 Lohri  Celebrations The Salwan fraternity of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar celebrated Lohri with lot of exuberance and gaiety on 13th January 2023 in the school premises. The day commemorated with immense joy, enthusiasm and magnificence. A special arrangement of bonfire was made where in all teachers from primary, middle and senior wing and other members of the Salwan family gathered together and immersed themselves in festive spirit by dancing on foot tapping Punjabi music to the fullest. Peanuts, Rewari, popcorns etc. were distributed amongst all and savoured. Every one offered their prayers to the sacred fire and wished each other ‘Happy Lohri’ marking the advent of the new year and passing of winter solstice. The celebration was a great way to bond together and spend some quality fun time.

Career Fair

Salwan Public School hosted the Career Fair on November 23, 2022 for the students and parents of Classes IX-XII. Representatives from twenty-two prestigious universities and institutions across India guided the students about the different career opportunities that can be pursued abroad. Representatives from individual institutions had one-on-one interactive sessions with interested students and parents. They interacted with the audience and informed them about various processes regarding exams and admissions.   The exhilarating experience at the fair was one of its kind as it provided grounds for meaningful conversations, power-packed networking opportunities, and immersive knowledge exchange.

Children’s Day Assembly

Date: 14th November 2022 Time: 9:00 A.M to 11 A.M Venue: School Ground The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country. – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. A day marking childhood- Children’s Day celebrations focus on children and their enjoyment. The day is celebrated to pay tribute to the legendary freedom fighter, popularly known as ‘Chacha Nehru’. The same was celebrated on 14th November 2022 in the school premises. The day was a bagless day for the students and through out the day the students had activities with their teachers. The celebration began with a light-hearted assembly dedicated to the students by their teachers. The program began with the morning prayer by the teachers of Vivekananda house followed by the thought of the day. Then the staff members presented children’s song. This was followed by a talk by the house mistress Ms. Neha Kohli. Parents talk is an important part of parent partnership program, wherein parents are extending their support in the overall development of students. Ms. Nidhi Maikhuri, parents of Ananya and Agamya Maikhuri gave an inspirational talk to the students regarding planning their life ahead. The melodious rendition by the music teacher Ms. Reshma and a vibrant dance performance by Ms. Peu added colours to the celebration. This was followed by a short programme “Tum Moti Main Dhaga” a recitation of Dohas by the teachers. The campus was buzzing with excitement and joy as it was a day wherein fun and frolic dominated. There was excitement in the air and the little ones left the school with a bag full of stories about their special day at school. The celebrations came to an end with the distribution of chocolates in the classes as a small token of love and affection by the school. Honorable Director Brigadier Dr. AK Tyagi and Officiating Principal Ms. Bhawna Puri along with senior coordinator Ms. Pooja Dhingra and junior coordinator Ms. Sheetal Kapoor all witnessed the programme and appreciated the zeal with which the teachers presented the assembly. The ceremony concluded with prize distribution to the student winners of innovation event held at Alchon’s Public school by honourable Principal Ma’am after which she addressed the gathering and blessed the students.

A workshop on Cyber Security- Parent Partnership Program

In today’s computerised world, the risk of cyber-attacks is increasing rapidly and can do serious damage to an individual’s life. Therefore, awareness about Cyber security is very crucial and indispensable. As a part of parent-teacher partnership program, Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar-III invited Ms. Rekha Rana M/o Anoushka Rana of class IX A and a senior IT consultant to present a fruitful session on Risks and Opportunities of Cyber Security in the changing era of IT, on 11th November 2022. She addressed the students of class X wherein she threw light on various aspects of cyber threats like cyber bullying, hacking, phishing, baiting, data theft and digital frauds. She sensitized them about different ways to maintain privacy and security of data. She shared some useful tips to prevent cybercrime. She explained how one must be mindful while using networking devices and social sites like Facebook, Instagram and others, as they create digital footprints. Some of her real time case studies discussed during the session, helped the students to understand the message with absolute clarity. All in all, it was an interactive and an informative session that focused on how to stay cyber safe. The session concluded with a thought-provoking question-answer round followed by the felicitation of the guest speaker.
