Felicitation Ceremony for the Meritorious Students

Salwan Education Trust conducted Felicitation Ceremony for the meritorious students of Salwan Group of Schools of class X and XII (2021-22 batch) on 24th September at India Habitat Centre. Twenty-three students of SPSMV were honoured with presentation of mementos and certificates by the Trust for the excellent results. CBSE-CPD NEP 2020

Session: CBSE – CPD NEP 2020   Date: September 24, 2022 Speaker: Mr. Joginder and Mr. Pushendra Singh No. of Participants: 35   Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar organized one full-day workshop on New National Education Policy 2020 in collaboration with CBSE on 24th September 2022 in the school premises. The main objective of this Workshop was to create awareness about the National Education Policy-2020 amongst teachers and to familiarize them with the skills to help them understand its nuances, curriculum changes, the shift in pedagogical skills and its implementation for the 360-degree holistic development of its stakeholders, the students. Mr. Jogendra Kumar, an associate professor DIET Moti Bagh. And Mr. Pushpendera Singh, Impact Speaker & Resource Person CBSE, Capacity Building Programmes since 2020 took the sessions. The session began with an energizer on NCF. Mr. Joginder explained that the new National Educational Policy-2020 seeks to introduce and implement a sea of changes across all levels of education in India. Further, he apprised the educators that the New Education Policy is based on the pillars of “access, equity, equality, affordability, accountability”. NEP emphasizes moving students away from rote learning and raising literacy and numeracy skills at the foundational level. Mr. Joginder simultaneously kept on clearing the doubts of the educators. They concluded the session by emphasizing that NEP-2020 focuses on – regular, formative and competency-based assessment, promoting learning and development of students and testing higher-order skills (analysis, critical thinking and conceptual clarity, etc.)    

IIHM Teachers Day Awards

In order to felicitate the worthy teachers for their noblest efforts, IIHM Teachers Day awards are celebrated every year. Our initiatives have been applauded over the years and brought us prestigious awards. This Teachers Day 2022, IIHM has felicitated our Offg. Principal, Ms. Bhawna Puri with ‘Award of Excellence’ as a Principal par Excellence for creating a better tomorrow and enhancing the young minds with supreme zeal. Our senior counsellor Dr. Preeti Jain is the proud recipient of the ‘Teacher par Excellence’ award for her relentless efforts to raise conscientious and worthy citizens. The Chief Guest at the event was Mr Adrian Chadwick – Regional Director South Asia British Council. Indeed, it’s a moment of honour for the school as we share our achievement with our school community.

Grandparents’ Day

“Grandparents are like magicians. They can create wonderful memories for their grandchildren out of thin air. ” Grandparents are a family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers, and the keepers of traditions. Grandparents are a family’s strong foundation. Their special love and care holds the family together. To honour their unconditional love, Salwan Public School celebrated “Grandparents’ Day” on September 23, 2022 for classes Nur-K.G. The programme commenced by welcoming the grandparents with a tilak, followed by the welcome speech given by our respected Headmistress, Mrs. Sheetal Kapoor. An enthralling song, “I love you Grandma Grandpa,” by the Young Salwanians, left the grandparents spellbound and thoroughly mesmerized. The event was followed by a graceful dance performance with the most supple and smooth movements. The ‘Talent Show’ won admiration and love from the audience. Grandparents and children came together and performed with confidence and enthusiasm on the stage. Our tiny tots showed off their flexible moves. Their aerobics workout had filled the whole ambiance with a bundle of energy. Many exciting games were conducted by the sports department, like ‘Balance’ is for girls, and ‘Pass the ball’ is for boys. All the winners were rewarded with exciting prizes by our respected Principal ma’am. The celebration brought a burst of happiness and joy to the faces of the teachers, students, parents, and most importantly, our wonderful grandparents. Today’s celebration of grandparents’ day was indeed a heart-touching experience. In the words of Alex Haley, “Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do.”  

Cyber Security and Safety Session

In this digital world, where children are increasingly wired to social media and the internet, the concerns of cyber security, cyber bullying, cyber hygiene are pertinent. Students need to be well-informed of what steps they can take to keep themselves safe. With this notion, Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar hosted an interactive session on Cyber Safety and Society Law and Ethics. The kids were told about the legal aspects of accessing the internet like the legal age, ethics and rules of using social media and gaming. The students were introduced to various terminologies like Cyber Bullying, hacking, fishing, cloning, data theft, digital frauds and grooming. Several case studies were shared with the audience and they were further sensitized towards privacy and security of data. The website for reporting Cyber Crimes was also told by the teachers. Women and children can report anonymously on www.cybercrime.gov.in.  The session was concluded by sharing some tips for internet banking and safe online transactions. The students were finally advised to harness it carefully. A PPT was shared with the students and a discussion was done with the learners about the rising need for awareness with regards to internet security. The learners shared their own personal experiences with the class of how they have on many occasions been victim of cyber crime.

CELEBRATION OF “RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH”- September 2022

POSHAN Abhiyan’ launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister aims to achieve improvement in the status of nutrition of both children and women. Poshan Maah and Pakhwada are celebrated every year by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India. With reference no. CBSE/ Circular No: Acad-95/2022, dated 2nd September, 2022, students of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar-III celebrated Rashtriya Poshan Maah during the month of September, 2022 to further accelerate various activities under POSHAN Abhiyan and to create a Jan Aandolan in the Process by adhering to COVID – 19. As instructed teachers carried out the following activities during the month of September. Pledge: The POSHAN Abhiyaan launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to improve the nutritional status of both children and women. Poshan Maah and Pakhwada are celebrated every year by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. To observe the activity of Poshan Maah around 1014 students of classes III-XII on 6th September, 2022, took Poshan pledge in school during Poshan Maah reflecting the spirit of Bacha and Shiksha. Students of classes V-XII took Poshan pledge in school during Poshan Maah reflecting the spirit of Bacha and Shiksha. Sensitize regarding nutrition in formative years: Group discussion on formative years with around 110 students of class X students was done. Students became aware that they need the right foods at the right time to grow and develop to their full potential. Poor diets in early childhood can lead to deficiencies in essential vitamins and nutrients – such as vitamin A deficiency, which weakens children’s immunity, increases their risk of blindness and can lead to death from common childhood diseases like diarrhoea. Lack of nutrition among children have far reaching impact on not just the physical health but also the mental development of the child. It is also a cause of mortality among children. Nutrition Garden: 8th September, 2022, In order to create awareness among the students about the importance of nutrition. Around 205 Students of classes VII & VIII participated in the activity with full enthusiasm. They planted saplings of medicinal herbs, shrubs and climbers, those which were easily available. Nutrition is important for the overall growth of a child’s all faculty. Benefits of a balanced diet was discussed with students. A plantation drive was carried out in the school herbal garden. Students got a chance to explore the surroundings and were guided to take care of nature and prevent deforestation. Water Management: Water is an extremely sacred resource for the existence of mankind. Water management helps in developing efficient irrigation practices for the betterment of agriculture in the country. Proper utilization of water in our homes too can save this precious resource. 12th September, 2022, teachers conducted awareness campaign for students of classes VIII & IX on water management through drawing and painting activities. Around 205 students participated in the said activity. Teachers joined hands to celebrate the true Spirit of POSHAN MAAH along with school children and empowered them with the knowledge of water management, guided them to save water and use limited amount of water whenever required.

Sub – Junior Girls-Zonal Volleyball Championship

We are proud to inform that School’s Sub – junior Girls volleyball team has secured 2nd place at the zonal volleyball Championship, held at Universal Public School Preet Vihar Delhi. Total 8 school teams participated in the said tournament. Sarjana

“Sarjana”, an international painting camp was organized by the Department of Visual Arts of Poornima University, Jaipur in association with Jaipur Art Summit. The camp was a week long from 22nd to 27th August, 2022. In this camp total 50 participants painted in their own style. Among them 20 artists were invited and rest of the participants were students of several universities. The participants were given canvas and colours and they were asked to paint as per their own creativity. All the artists painted at least one canvas and some of the artists painted more than one canvas also. The camp was chaired by Mr. Bijay Biswaal, an eminent artist from Nagpur. He painted one canvas and demonstrated two water colour paintings. Being an invited artist in the camp, Mr. Souherdyo Das-PGT Painting also painted a canvas. The name of the painting is “Par-APAR”. Other artists were from South Korea, Nepal, Gwalior, Jaipur, Bhopal and Kolkata. All the paintings are taken by the university and copyright was filled by all the artist. Artist were felicitated with a certificate and a memento. This kind of camp gives opportunity to an artist to explore the art world and to get exposure as well. All artists gathered together and shared their thoughts altogether. It was a very nice experience to collaborate with so many artists from several provinces.

Career Guidance Workshop on Design

To expose students to a variety of careers in order to jumpstart their thinking about the future, the school has initiated  Career Guidance Workshops as a part of the Student-Parent Partnership programme. By preparing early, students will be more likely to be college and career ready after high school graduation. Our first  such workshop was held today,  14th September, 2022 for students of class IX  in the school MPH Hall. We were fortunate to have amongst us  as  our Parent Guest Speaker  for the day Smt. Saigeeta Priyadarshini ( presently an Assistant Professor in Sharda University, Greater Noida), parent of Chetna Brahma of class X A and Manvik Brahma of class V C. She conducted an interactive session  on ‘Career Guidance in Design’, her field of expertise from the last 11 years having taught engineering students as well as handled various projects in the area of computer aided design (CAD).  It was an extremely enriching experience and students wish to be a part of such workshops in the future as well  as they feel they can ‘stay ahead of the curve’ with opportunities such as these to enlighten them.  The Guest speaker was honoured with  a Certificate of  Appreciation by our Hon’ble Principal Ms. Bhawna Puri(Offg.)  for consenting to willingly spare her valuable time and guide our students in the field of design

Grandparents’ Day

Grandparents are the family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers, and the keepers of traditions. Through their special love and care, grandparents keep a family close at heart. To honour them, Salwan Public School (pre-primary wing) celebrated ‘Grandparents’ Day’ on September 9, 2022. The programme commenced by welcoming the grandparents with tilak, followed by the welcome speech given by the headmistress- Mrs. Sheetal Kapoor. The tinytots gracefully danced to the Welcome Song. The ‘Talent Show’ was organized where students and grandparents exhibited their talent by way of songs, rhymes, dance performances etc. The kindergardeners were back on stage with ‘Aerobics Dance’. They performed rhythmically. The students participated in a race and game, with support from their grandparents, namely ‘Burst All Balloons’. All the winners were rewarded with gifts by our headmistress ma’am, that brought a twinkle to their eyes. The pleasant day concluded with a Thank You speech by our coordinator- Mrs. Anjali Malik. It was a memorable day for the grandparents, one they will cherish for a long time.
