HUBS OF LEARNING PROGRAMME

Good health is central to human happiness and well-being that contributes significantly to prosperity and wealth as healthy populations are more productive, save more and live longer. Keeping up with the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE’s) initiative of ‘Hubs of Learning’ and the month of April being celebrated as GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING …. Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages, a video on GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING(SDG-3) was shown to students by the science teachers to promote healthy living from a very young age. After the video, students were explained about the targets of SDG 3 that covers a wide range of issues including reduction of maternal mortality, ending all preventable deaths under five years of age, fighting communicable diseases, ensuring a reduction of mortality from non-communicable diseases and promoting mental health. The students enjoyed the video, understood the importance of maintaining good health by eating a healthy and balanced diet, maintaining good hygiene habits, staying in a proper shelter and getting enough sleep and pledged to follow a healthy lifestyle to maintain good health as ensuring healthy lives and promoting wellbeing for all at all ages is important to build prosperous societies and healthy and happy world for all of us to live in.

Earth Day Celebrations

This year the theme of Earth Day was “Invest in your Planet.” Keeping this in mind, various activities were planned for different classes according to their age group. The celebration started with a motivational video on Earth, which was showcased to the students in SDP period. Post lunch period was scheduled for the activities of Earth Day, viz- Poster making for classes- III, Trash to Treasure for Classes IV and V; Craft your own paper bag for classes VI and VII and Making a bird feeder for classes VIII and IX. The best entries were selected by the class teachers and sent to eco club.In the last one-hour cleanliness drive was observed in all the classes.Eco club students from the classes VI-IX also attended a workshop on Yoga and Meditation conducted by volunteers from Isha Foundation.  Students enjoyed the activities with full zeal and exhibited their creativity.

Educational Visit to Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi

The celebration of grassroots innovation at the Rashtrapati Bhavan empowers creative communities in a manner that was never tried before in the history of the country. In this regards the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the Festival of Innovation and Entrepreneurship 2023 (FINE) under the flagship of the national innovation foundation an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology, GoI on 10th April 2023. Schools all over the country were invited to witness the showcase from April 11th to April 13th 2023. Salwan Public School Mayur Vihar, with a group of 31 students along with teachers visited the Rashtrapati Bhawan on April 12th 2023. This programme opened gates for innovators and entrepreneurs across the nation to bond over and disseminate their innovations, ideas and pioneer-dom, not just with other innovators but the entire nation. It was a very good opportunity for school students to respect, recognize and reward the creativity of innovators representing the length and breadth of the country. The programme was knowledgeable and made a great impact on the minds of our children.  

INTACH FILMIT FESTIVAL

This is to proudly share with you that students of Digitech Club participated in INTACH Filmit festival 2022-23 held in ICC Lodhi Road on 2nd Feb 2023. The event was organised by INTACH, wherein a total of 140 students participated. The students who participated from our school were: Aarav Dhingra of Class VI B, Vaibhav Singh of Class VIII A and Mohd Saad, Namya Gupta, Raghav Garg of Class VIII B. Our students submitted various movies based on Indian Culture and moral values. Their movie Bholu and Shroo got selected for ‘Most Unique’ award. School got a trophy and all participants received certificates. We truly appreciate the efforts of the students of Digitech club and congratulate them, their mentors and families for the great success.

KALANTAR 2022, A National Level online Annual Art Competition

In order to enhance creativity in the minds of children, youth and people of all ages along-with reducing negativity in the society Kalantar Art Foundation – a well-known art NGO in the country organized an Annual Art Festival in association with Dept of Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Every year one state of the county is kept as theme state. This year Uttar Pradesh is the theme state for the Annual Art Festival. It included national online competitions in painting, writing, music composition, dance, acting etc. Students of Salwan Public School , Mayur Vihar also came forward to take part in varied activities with great enthusiasm and zeal.

Parent Partnership Program- Art & Craft

As part of Parent-Teacher Partnership program, Ms. Monika Garg M/o Anika Garg of class Nursery A, a postgraduate in Bioinformatics and a self-taught artist conducted a creative and a fun activity session on making of waterfall Card   for the students of class VIII on 4 Th February 2023. The hands on workshop enabled the students to explore their skills and ideas to design waterfall cards using colorful sheets of paper which could be used as greeting cards for sending messages to friends and family. It was also a great way to develop the students’ fine motor skills, their power of observation and eye hand coordination. All in all, it was an interactive and an enriching experience that helped students give vent to their creative expressions through the medium of art and craft. Creating a healthy community through collaboration can go a long way to create  a benchmark and empower our students with new learning experiences.

CBSE- STORY TELLING COMPETITION

Salwan Public School, MayurVihar-III, Delhi Department: CBSE Month: JANUARY, 2022-2023 Topic: NAME OF THE ACTIVITY CONDUCTED- CBSE- STORY TELLING COMPETITION   Date: 21-27 January 2023 Classes Involved:III – V Total Number of Students participated: 17 Total Number of girls: 7 Total Number of boys: 10 CBSE Story Telling Competition was conducted from 21st -27th January 2023. Students from classes III to V participated in the said event. They expressed and shared their stories in the form of videos. Stories define us, shape us, control us and make us. Creating and sharing stories enhanced their communication skills, curiosity and imagination. It also helped in boosting their confidence.

School in News

The school hosted CBSE Cluster Under 19 Girls School Volleyball Tournament in the school premises wherein around 44 teams from Delhi school participated in the event. Sharing picture of the news clip, covering the event, that appeared in the Hindustan Times – Pace (Students’ Edition) dated 02 February 2023.

4th CBSE EXPRESSION SERIES

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar-III, Delhi Month: JANUARY, 2022-2023 CBSE:  4th CBSE EXPRESSION SERIES Topic:  ‘Digital Revolution in India’ In continuation with the AKAM celebrations and to mark the occasion of India taking over the G20 Presidency for the first time, year-long student-enrichment activities are being conducted by the CBSE Board. Digital Economy is one of the work themes of G20. In order to give a platform to students to express themselves about this theme of G20, the 4th Expression Series for the session 2022-23 is based on the theme ‘Digital Revolution in India’. The students of Salwan Public School, MV-III participated in the competition either through paragraph-writing, poetry or painting sessions. The competitions are being held under four categories: Classes III to V, Classes VI to VIII, Class IX and Class XI. Under the First category (classes III-V), students had to write a paragraph or present a painting on the topic My Vision of Digital India. Under the Second category ( classes VI -VIII)  the topic  was ‘Digital India – A Vision to Transform India’ and the medium to be used was Poem/ painting/ paragraph writing. In the third category( class IX, class X optional) the topic was ‘Impact of Digital Economy on my life’ and the medium was essay/ painting/ poem. In the fourth category( class  XI, (XII optional) the students had to present their entries in the form of painting/ essay/ poem on the topic- ‘Digital Economy for Empowered India’. The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm and expressed their views by way of paintings and paragraphs depicting life of digital India. The best entries have been uploaded for selection at the CBSE level.
