Celebration of World Autism Awareness Day 2026

SPSMV celebrated World Autism Awareness Day in the school with a series of meaningful and inclusive activities organised throughout April 2026. The initiatives aimed to promote awareness, foster empathy, and encourage acceptance of individuals with autism among students.
The observance commenced from 01 April 2026 to 11 April 2026 with a Blue Day Celebration, in which 105 students (CWSN and peers) participated. On this occasion, the school staff wore blue as a gesture of solidarity and support for individuals with autism. This simple yet impactful initiative promoted awareness, inclusion, and unity, while celebrating the uniqueness of every learner. It also encouraged meaningful conversations about acceptance and understanding, reinforcing the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
From 13 April to 20 April 2026, a Poster Making Activity was organised, with the participation of 250 students. Through creative expression, students conveyed messages of inclusion and support for individuals with autism, further strengthening awareness and nurturing a sense of responsibility towards building an inclusive school community.
The concluding phase, held from 21 April to 30 April 2026, witnessed the participation of 975 students in interactive sessions conducted by the school counsellor and Special Educator. These talks focused on explaining autism, addressing common misconceptions, and encouraging open dialogue among students. The sessions proved highly effective in building awareness, promoting empathy, and guiding students to become more accepting and supportive of individuals on the autism spectrum.
Overall, the month-long observance was enriching and impactful, reflecting the school’s commitment to inclusivity, sensitivity, and holistic education.
