Turning Waste into Responsibility: Eco Club Leads Community Recycling Drive

Students of the Eco Club from Classes VI–IX and XI of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar organised a Community Outreach Programme on the Recycling of Single-Use Plastic (SUP) and E-Waste in collaboration with NaMo E-Waste Organisation on Monday, 03 August and Wednesday, 05 August 2026 in a neighbouring residential society.

On Monday, 03 August 2026, the students conducted an awareness drive, interacting with residents to highlight the environmental hazards of improper disposal of single-use plastic and e-waste. They encouraged households to segregate recyclable waste and deposit it at a designated collection point.

As a follow-up, the students revisited the society on 5 August along with representatives from NaMo E-Waste Organisation to collect the accumulated single-use plastic and e-waste. With enthusiastic support from the residents, collection bins were installed in the society to facilitate continued segregation and collection. The waste will be transported to an authorised recycling facility after one week for safe disposal and recycling.

The initiative provided students with an opportunity to promote environmental awareness beyond the school campus while encouraging community participation in responsible waste management. In recognition of this collaborative effort, Certificates of Appreciation will be presented to both the participating residential society and the school.
