International Yoga Day 2026 was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm at Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, on Sunday, 21 June 2026, under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’. The celebration was held amidst the serene and verdant surroundings of the School Greens, bringing together students, teachers and parents in a spirit of collective well-being and mindful living.
The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Smt. Sheetal Kapoor, Headmistress, who set a motivating and thoughtful tone for the occasion. In her address, she eloquently underscored the timeless relevance of yoga as an ancient discipline that harmonises the mind, body and soul. She elaborated on the significance of this year’s theme, emphasising how the consistent practice of yoga enables individuals across all age groups to age gracefully, maintain vitality and lead lives of purpose and good health.
The address was followed by a rejuvenating and invigorating yoga session conducted by Shri Sunil Choudhary, PGT (Sports), whose expertise and patient guidance led the participants through a carefully curated sequence of yoga asanas and meditation techniques. The session was both physically energising and deeply calming, instilling in every participant a renewed sense of awareness and inner balance. The open, green expanse of the school grounds lent a refreshing and tranquil ambience to the practice, making the experience all the more enriching.
The celebration drew to a close with a Shanti Path, followed by light refreshments arranged for the participants. The event served as a powerful reminder of the immense benefits that yoga bestows upon daily life—fostering physical health, mental clarity and a profound sense of community. It was, by all measures, an inspiring and memorable celebration of the spirit of yoga.
