Evacuation Drill for Disaster Preparedness

To strengthen disaster preparedness and safety awareness, Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar conducted an evacuation drill on Wednesday, 30 April 2025. The drill aimed to familiarise students and staff with the standard emergency evacuation procedures and ensure readiness in case of any unforeseen disaster.
A well-structured evacuation plan was prepared and shared with the entire staff on 18 April 2025. All members of the staff formed part of the safety team and were assigned specific responsibilities to facilitate a smooth and efficient evacuation.
The drill was conducted efficiently and without disruption. The entire school building was evacuated in an orderly and disciplined manner within 5 minutes. Teachers ensured that students remained calm and followed instructions while proceeding to the designated assembly areas on the ground.
Upon reaching the assembly point, the school counsellor, Dr. Preeti Jain, sensitised the students about the importance of staying calm during emergencies. She guided them on managing panic and responding with presence of mind in such situations.
This was followed by an address by the Principal, Capt Richa Sharma Katyal (Retd), who sensitised the students regarding such situations. Ma’am provided valuable guidance on how to act swiftly, responsibly, and with awareness in times of emergencies.
The drill concluded successfully, reinforcing the school’s commitment to safety, preparedness, and creating a secure learning environment for all.
