Closing Ceremony of Abacus and Vedic Math Club

The Closing Ceremony of the Abacus and Vedic Mathematics Clubs for classes II-IX was held on Saturday, 21 February 2026 with great enthusiasm and academic fervour, marking the culmination of months of learning, skill enhancement, and dedicated practice by the students. The programme began on an auspicious note with the chanting of a shloka, followed by a soulful Saraswati Vandana by the school choir, creating a serene atmosphere and invoking blessings for knowledge and wisdom. Captain Richa Sharma Katyal (Retd.), Principal, SPSMV, addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of logical reasoning, sustained effort, and conceptual clarity in building a strong mathematical foundation, motivating students to approach learning with confidence and perseverance.
The Vedic Mathematics segment witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Classes VI to IX, who demonstrated various mental calculation techniques highlighting speed, precision, and analytical thinking. Students solved problems swiftly without the use of paper or calculators, reflecting disciplined training and strong conceptual understanding. The Abacus Club segment featured young learners from Classes II to V demonstrating rapid calculations using abacus techniques, impressing the audience with their focus, coordination, and accuracy.
The ceremony also included the prize distribution for the Mathematics Day competitions conducted during December and February, encouraging students to explore mathematical concepts through creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Tagore House secured the First Position and Gandhi House the Runner-Up position in the Inter-House Mathletics Relay Race for Class III. Class IV students participated in the Skillmatics Board Game Competition, while Class V students showcased creativity in the Math-e-Magical Digital Comic Strip Competition, where Gandhi House secured the First Position and Tagore House the Runner-Up position. Students of Classes VI–VII participated in the Mathematics in Art Competition, while the Inter-House Mental Math Quiz for Classes VI–VIII saw Gandhi House emerging victorious. In the Techno Math – Digital Presentation Challenge for Class VIII, Vivekanand House won the First Prize and Gandhi House secured the Runner-Up position. Similarly, in the Inter-House Model Making Competition for Class IX, Vivekanand House secured the First Prize while Gandhi House was the Runner-Up.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Shri Satish Kumar, HOD (Mathematics), who expressed gratitude to the school management, mentors, teachers, and parents for their continuous support and encouragement. The programme proved to be a meaningful and enriching experience, celebrating achievement while reinforcing the importance of mathematical skills and a positive attitude towards learning.
