Three-Day Summer Training at CSIR-IGIB

Ten students of Class XI from Salwan Public School, Mayur
Vihar participated in a three-day summer training programme at CSIR-IGIB from Wednesday,
18 June – Friday, 20 June 2025, focusing on the real-world applications of
genomics and molecular biology.
The hands-on training covered key lab techniques such as DNA
isolation, microbial culture observation, PCR, third-generation DNA sequencing,
gel electrophoresis, and mutation analysis. Students also explored microbial
diversity and were introduced to bioinformatics tools, including the NCBI
browser, to analyze genetic data.
The programme enhanced students’ understanding of DNA,
genetic mutations, and the vital role of microbes, while fostering scientific
curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking. It concluded with a session on
data interpretation, linking genomics to modern diagnostics and personalized
medicine.
This enriching experience helped bridge academic knowledge
with practical scientific application, inspiring students to explore careers in
the life sciences.
