MCoP5 Challenge-WWF

Five students from Classes VIII and IX of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar participated in a two-day online workshop organised by WWF in collaboration with MCOP (Model Conferences of Parties), focusing on biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.
Themed ‘Climate and How We Will Cope with the Changes’, the workshop introduced the ‘30×30’ target — a global initiative to protect 30% of Earth’s land, sea, and freshwater ecosystems by 2030. The sessions emphasised the importance of preserving biodiversity to maintain ecological balance and combat climate change by safeguarding vital carbon stocks.
Participants explored key topics such as ecosystem services, the science behind global warming, and international frameworks including the Paris Agreement, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and the Stockholm Convention. The workshop also addressed the significance of protecting endangered species and natural habitats.
Led by Mr. Hem Kumar Pande (IAS), the sessions featured expert talks, visual presentations, and interactive discussions. The students actively engaged in sharing their insights and proposed simple, actionable lifestyle changes to support environmental sustainability. An action plan will be submitted by the participants as a continuation of their learning.
