Diwali Special Assembly : ‘Spreading the Light of Joy, Unity, and Responsibility’

On Thursday, 16 October 2025, the school celebrated the vibrant festival of Diwali with a special morning assembly, organised by Vivekanand House. The event aimed to promote the values of joy, unity, and eco-conscious celebration among students.
The programme began on a spiritual note with the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, accompanied by an explanation of its meaning — a prayer for wisdom, truth, and inner enlightenment.
In her address, Smt. Bhawna Puri, Vice Principal, SPSMV spoke about the deeper significance of Diwali as a celebration of the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. She encouraged students to embrace a more responsible way of celebrating the festival by reducing pollution, practising gratitude, and spreading kindness in their communities.
A key highlight of the assembly was a student-led skit based on the theme ‘Vocal for Local’. The performance creatively urged everyone to support local artisans and small businesses when purchasing Diwali decorations, diyas, and gifts. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of sustainability and preserving traditional crafts.
The assembly concluded with a strong message of inclusivity and environmental responsibility, inspiring students to celebrate Diwali not just with lights and sweets, but with compassion, awareness, and a sense of social responsibility.
