Disaster Management Workshop

A Disaster Management Workshop was organised by Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, for the students of Classes VIII to XII and the teachers. The workshop was conducted by the Anchor Disaster Action Team, led by Dr. Brigadier Sandeep Bhandari and his team.
The session began with Principal Ma’am felicitating the guests and addressing the students on the importance of disaster preparedness. She emphasised that hands-on learning is essential for acquiring life-saving skills during emergencies.
The resource person introduced the concept of disaster readiness and highlighted its significance in everyday life. The team demonstrated various safety techniques, including the correct response during an earthquake and the safe evacuation of a collapsed structure. Students were shown how to create a stretcher using easily available materials, and they actively participated in this hands-on activity.
A live demonstration on administering CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) was also conducted, along with the important precautionary measures to be taken while performing it. Students were given the opportunity to practise CPR on a training model as part of the activity. The team further advised students to keep essential safety items at home so that immediate action can be taken in the event of a disaster.
The workshop aimed to create awareness about natural disasters and strengthen the spirit of preparedness. It guided students on safeguarding themselves during emergencies, with a special focus on earthquake response and risk-minimisation strategies.
Overall, the workshop proved to be highly informative and enriching, successfully sensitising students and staff to the importance of disaster management and readiness.
