Our comprehensive Career Guidance Programme, designed for students of Classes VIII to XII, equips them with the awareness, skills, and support needed to make well-informed career decisions.

Our recent Career Fair, held on 25 October 2024, brought together 22 reputed institutions from India and abroad, offering students direct access to opportunities and expert advice.

The career counselling programme includes:

Individualised Guidance: One-to-one interactive sessions with university and institutional representatives offer students valuable insights into a wide range of career pathways.

Workshops and Seminars: These sessions provide detailed information on various career options and academic streams. Experts from diverse fields share their experiences and offer guidance, assisting students in making informed choices.

Parent and Student Orientation: Personalised programmes for both parents and students facilitate informed stream selection, helping them identify individual strengths and interests and Aptitude while formulating future action plans. Guidance on post-Class X stream selection and career options is also a key focus.

Experiential Learning: The curriculum incorporates experiential learning methods to foster divergent thinking and problem-solving skills.

Life Skills Development: In alignment with WHO guidelines, the school integrates ten core life skills into its programme, essential for career success. Modules are tailored to different age groups, incorporating brainstorming sessions and discussions.

Career Development: The school promotes critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, preparing students for future challenges. Professional training opportunities, including visits to hospitals, multinational corporations (MNCs), Microsoft, and other sectors, provide students with valuable practical experience.

Higher Education Guidance: Support is provided for higher education applications, both within India and internationally, including assistance with profile building and writing LOR’s.

Continuous Professional Development: The career counsellor actively participates in professional development seminars and workshops, ensuring access to the latest career information and opportunities. Students are also informed about relevant educational fairs and seminars.

CBSE WEBINAR SERIES OF CAREER COUNSELING (APRIL AND MAY 2025)

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organised a series of online webinars between April and May 2025 to support the professional development of school principals, teachers, and counsellors in the areas of career and psychosocial counselling. These sessions aimed to provide a framework for students and parents to navigate career decision-making while highlighting the importance of profile enhancement and exposure. The webinars also explored the critical role of principals in steering their institutions towards career success and offered valuable insights into how teachers can integrate career awareness into the classroom.

Dr. Preeti Jain, Counsellor SPSMV, participated in the webinars. The first session, held on Tuesday, 08 April 2025, focused on the significance of profile building and exposure for students. Mr. Jitin Chawla, Director of the Jitin Chawla Centre for Career Development, set the context, and the keynote address was delivered by Shri Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE. Experts discussed the importance of a strong student profile and how students could leverage online certifications, research papers, and social projects to enhance their profiles.

The second webinar on Tuesday, 15 April 2025 centred on empowering principals and administrators to lead career readiness in schools. Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations at CBSE, emphasised unbiased career counselling strategies and the integration of career planning into school curricula. The session also provided insights into the future job landscape, helping schools prepare students for emerging career opportunities.

The third webinar, held on Tuesday, 22 April 2025, focused on career-driven teaching. Dr. Biswajit Saha, Director of Skill Education at CBSE, and experts from Pathways World School and DPS Society discussed how to incorporate career-focused activities into the classroom and explored emerging careers in STEM, AI, and finance. Teachers were also introduced to online and offline upskilling opportunities to better equip students for future careers.

On Tuesday, 29 April 2025, the fourth webinar provided guidance to counsellors on creating year-long career counselling plans. Sh. Manoj Kumar Srivastava, Director of Training at CBSE, and Dr. Purushottam K. Jangir from Dana India shared insights on collaborating with higher education institutions and engaging parents in the career planning process.

The final webinar on Tuesday, 06 May 2025 focused on engaging parents in career counselling. Dr. Praggya M. Singh, Director of Academics at CBSE, addressed how research-driven insights can shape career decisions and provided guidance on selecting the right extracurricular activities to support students’ career paths.

Overall, the series of webinars offered comprehensive knowledge and practical strategies to enhance career counselling and prepare students for successful futures. Dr. Preeti Jain found the sessions insightful and valuable, further strengthening the career guidance framework at Salwan Public School.

Careers for Tomorrow

On Wednesday, 30th April 2025, an informative workshop was organised at Salwan Public School for students of class XII Science .The session was led by Mr Rajesh Mishra, who discussed key decision-making factors such as practicality, relevance, and employability, emphasising their significance when selecting a career, as they greatly influence long-term job prospects and personal satisfaction. Understanding the importance of informed decision- The session, led by Mr Rajesh Mishra, provided valuable insights into career decision-making. He ruled out the necessity of coaching institutes and dummy schools, instead stressing the importance of self-learning through reading books and travelling. He encouraged students to think beyond conventional courses and explore diverse academic paths that align with their interests and strengths. He laid strong emphasis on academic excellence, highlighting its role in shaping successful and fulfilling careers.  Students were guided to evaluate potential career options based on these markers.

In addition to emerging career opportunities, the session also covered details about well-established academic paths. Mr Mishra provided insights into careers such as Engineering, medicine, Pharmacy, Mass Communication, Management, Law, Chartered Accountancy, Sustainability Public Policy Management, Agriculture, Economics, Commerce, Psychology, and the Social Sciences. By exploring both conventional and popular career options, the session aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of various fields.

He emphasised the importance of aligning personal interests, skills, and aptitudes with career choices, encouraging students to explore their passions and strengths when making decisions about their future paths. The session also shed light on new-age careers, such as liberal arts, which integrate multiple disciplines and offer a broader perspective on education and career development.

Towards the end of the session, an interactive segment allowed students to address their queries regarding future career planning. Mr Mishra provided valuable guidance and answered questions, easing students’ concerns and offering clarity on their career choices. This interaction enabled students to gain personalised insights and advice tailored to their individual aspirations and circumstances.

Careers and Subject Correlation

Led by Mr. Rajesh Mishra, renowned career expert and founder of Guide 4 Careers, this interactive session helped Class X students connect their academic subjects with real-world professions—from Psychology and Genetics to Public Policy and Environmental Sciences. Students explored future-ready careers and the importance of vision-driven planning.

Higher Education& Eco System

For Class XII students, Mr. Arindam Bhattacharya, motivational speaker and career counsellor, delivered an insightful session on diverse educational pathways. From emerging professions to unexplored institutions like TISS, MS University, and BITS Pilani, students were encouraged to dream beyond the conventional.

Strengthening Your Inner Well-Being! – Each Mind Matters

On 22nd July 2024, the Counselling and Special Needs Department conducted an in-house workshop titled “Strengthening Your Inner Well-Being! – Each Mind Matters” for CWSN students. Led by Ms. Priya Trehan and Dr. Preeti Jain, the session focused on emotional, social, and mental well-being. Students were encouraged to practice self-care, seek help when needed, and engage in mindful and physical activities. The workshop was interactive, with students sharing their thoughts and giving positive feedback, reflecting its success and impact.
