Assessment Policy

Scaling Greater Heights....

‘Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.’John Dewey

At Salwan, we believe in nurturing learners through active learning, learning by doing, and learning by challenging—an approach that inspires growth, curiosity, and resilience. Our assessment practices go beyond measuring outcomes; they serve as a tool for reflection, timely feedback, and continuous self-improvement.

Classes Nur-II

Embracing the principles of the Happiness Curriculum (HPC), we adopt an innovative pedagogy that prioritises emotional well-being, social-emotional learning, and self-awareness. Through experiential and joyful learning, young learners develop empathy, confidence, and interpersonal skills. Assessments are thoughtfully designed and reflected through a Holistic Progress Report Card, offering insights into emotional growth, creativity, and personal development.

Classes III-V

We maintain a strong commitment to academic excellence and fair evaluation, adhering strictly to the Promotion Policy and Examination & Assessment Guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE). These guidelines ensure that our assessment practices remain transparent, inclusive, and aligned with holistic development goals.

Classes VI and VIII

To ensure long-term academic success, the school follows the policy mandated by the DoE, requiring students to meet minimum academic benchmarks for promotion. Students who do not meet the expected learning outcomes are offered targeted remedial support and a re-examination opportunity. In the interest of foundational mastery, those unable to meet the standards even after this support may be retained, reinforcing core competencies essential for future learning.

Classes IX & XI: Building Strong Foundations for Academic
Success

Classes IX and XI mark a critical transition in a student’s academic journey, laying the groundwork for the board and senior secondary examinations. At this stage, we focus on deepening subject knowledge, enhancing study skills, and encouraging independent learning.

Assessments are thoughtfully structured to test comprehension, analytical thinking, and application of concepts in alignment with CBSE guidelines. Emphasis is placed on continuous assessment, regular class tests, and personalised feedback to help students track their progress and strengthen areas of improvement.

In addition to academic focus, students are guided in goal setting, time management, and subject selection, ensuring a smooth and confident progression into Classes X and XII.

Classes X and XII: Striving for Academic Excellence and Future Readiness

In the senior secondary years, our focus sharpens on academic rigour, critical thinking, and preparation for higher education and future careers. Assessments are structured to evaluate conceptual clarity, application of knowledge, and analytical skills across all subjects.

In line with the CBSE examination framework and DoE guidelines, we maintain high standards of internal assessments and board examination preparation. Regular practice papers, personalised feedback, and mentoring support are integral to our approach, empowering students to perform confidently and consistently.

Career counselling, subject-specific guidance, and workshops further prepare learners for competitive exams and diverse academic pathways. The aim is to nurture not just academic achievers, but thoughtful, responsible individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to the world.
