A Tribute to Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan Ji on His Birth Anniversary

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, commemorated the birth anniversary of its revered founder, Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan Ji, with a special assembly on Wednesday, 29 October 2025. The event was a heartfelt tribute to a visionary whose life embodied courage, compassion, and a lifelong commitment to education as a means of nation-building.

The celebration began with the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, invoking divine blessings for wisdom and enlightenment—an expression of Sir’s unwavering belief in the power of knowledge. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute offered in his honour, symbolising the eternal flame of learning and gratitude that he kindled in every Salwanian. Principal Ma’am then addressed the gathering, sharing heartfelt reflections on Sir’s visionary ideals and their continued relevance in shaping compassionate, responsible learners.

Thereafter, the students presented a soulful rendition of the Salwan Song by Classes III to V, filling the atmosphere with pride and unity. The event continued with a self-composed poem titled ‘An Ode to the Visionary,’ inspired by his values of humility, perseverance, and service to society, capturing the spirit of his enduring legacy.

Extending his philosophy beyond the school walls, students of Class V visited the MCD School in Mayur Vihar Phase I, where they presented an engaging story during the morning assembly. The interaction brought smiles, laughter, and learning, fostering a sense of connection and shared growth between both schools.

In harmony with his vision of holistic education that nurtures both character and care for the environment, the school also launched a Tree Care Initiative. Every tree on the campus was adopted by groups of students from Classes V to VIII, with each group pledging to care for their tree responsibly. Students took steps to maintain cleanliness around the trees, water them thoughtfully, protect them from pests, and decorate their surroundings using eco-friendly materials. This initiative not only encouraged environmental awareness but also embodied Sir’s belief that education must instil respect for nature and a sense of stewardship for the planet.

To complement this spirit of balance between mind, body, and soul, a Mini Run was organised for students of Classes V to VIII. The run symbolised Sir’s conviction that physical fitness and mental strength go hand in hand. With cheerful energy and team spirit, the participants reflected the holistic ideals that define the Salwan legacy.

The day’s celebration, from prayer to participation, from learning to action, beautifully echoed Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan Ji’s timeless philosophy—that education is not confined to books but blossoms through service, empathy, and harmony with nature. His life continues to inspire every Salwanian to grow with humility, to serve with sincerity, and to live with purpose and compassion.
